Communication, Dialogue

What to say … or THAT to say

What if it doesn’t matter as much WHAT you say, but THAT you say what you need to say?

Of course, in the best case, what you say and THE WAY YOU SAY IT would cause others to want to listen or even just consider your perspective. We all know it’s possible to speak and cause others to resist before they consider.

Take a listen to today’s Bock Talk where I talk about some language distinctions: character vs. reputation; tell vs. ask; convince vs. cultivate; and love vs. fear that might help bridge differing opinions long enough to get beyond discussion and debate into the scary place of dialogue. It’s scary only because the outcome is never certain in dialogue, which makes it all the more important.
